Credit Union Awareness® delivers the movements only national, and state-level digital consumer marketing program designed to generate consideration and engagement for credit unions. Since April 2022, over 1M consumers in New York have visited to learn about and ultimately locate a credit union they can potentially do business with. In this session, we'll share more about how the program works, how participating credit unions can connect their website for maximum consumer engagement opportunities, and we'll provide insights for how credit unions can harness the insights of the program to improve their own digital marketing efforts.

Pape ReedDiane Pape Reed, CEO, CU Doctor

Nationally recognized speaker, writer and communications professional, Diane Reed, currently serves as President of CUDoctor, a full-service credit union consultancy, assisting financial institutions nationwide with human resource, marketing, strategic planning, community relations, compliance, sales, training, board relations and governance, and executive support.  Prior to joining CUDoctor, Diane served for more than a decade as Vice President of Administration for a mid-sized credit union. Her expertise in “Service-Oriented Culture Change” has been cited in numerous industry publications.  And, her marketing expertise has been featured in articles for “Exhibit Builder” and “Business Management” magazines.  In 2015, she spearheaded the development of CUNA’s HR Compliance Certification School in conjunction with CUNA, a program which continues to deliver quality HR compliance training to professionals nationwide.

She attended The American University and graduated from George Mason University where she specialized in Organizational Communication and Human Resources Management.  Diane currently resides in Fairfax, Virginia with her husband David, a financial services guru in his own right.


LorenceChris Lorence, Executive Director, Credit Union Awareness

Chris Lorence is executive director of CU Awareness, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Credit Union National Association (CUNA). Lorence raises consumer consideration and membership opportunities for credit unions through the nation’s only digital consumer engagement program.

Lorence brings more than twenty-five years of leadership, marketing, engagement, and innovation strategy to Credit Union Awareness.


ODellSteve O’Dell, Sales Manager, CUNA Mutual Group

As Sales Manager for CUNA Mutual Group, Steve O’Dell leads a team of 11 Account Executives across the eastern half of the United States, along with two Account Executives in Hawaii, in support of our credit union partners. He works with his Team to identify strategic objectives and financial opportunities to help our credit unions evolve, drive sustainable growth and meet their ever-changing Members’ needs. He joined CUNA Mutual Group in 1990 and has held numerous sales and sales leadership roles working with credit unions of all sizes.

O’Dell earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire.  He earned his Certified Credit Union Executive (CCUE) designation in 2005.

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family at their cabin in northern Wisconsin snowmobiling, ATV riding, hunting, boating, and many other outdoor activities.  He is also an avid hockey fan, especially at the college level. 


TempleShawn Temple, Strategy Director, On the Mark Strategies

Shawn Temple has served the credit union industry since 1996, holding positions in both senior and middle management across lending, operations, compliance, marketing, training and project management. Most recently, Shawn served as Chief Operating Officer of Bossier Federal Credit Union in Bossier City, Louisiana. In that role, he directed multiple divisions as well as planned, implemented and managed strategic objectives for the credit union.

Shawn served on the Southwest CUNA Management School (SCMS) faculty from 2010 through 2020. While a student at SCMS, he was an Award of Excellence recipient. He has been certified by CUNA as a Credit Union Compliance Expert (CUCE). Shawn holds a B.S. in Accounting and a Master of Business Administration from Louisiana State University Shreveport.

When he’s not immersed in all things credit union strategy, you’ll likely find Shawn riding his Harley, traveling the country with friends and family or cheering on his beloved Kansas Jayhawks basketball team.


TreichelMark Treichel, Founder, Credit Union Exam Solutions

In 33 years at NCUA Mark Treichel led the agency as Executive Director, Regional Director, Director of Special Actions, Supervisory Examiner, and  Examiner. His varied positions at every level of NCUA gives him a unique perspective on all things NCUA. 

After retiring from NCUA Treichel founded  “Credit Union Exam Solutions”  to assist credit unions with NCUA so they save time and money. 

His Podcast “With Flying Colors” focuses on topics to help credit unions achieve success on the NCUA examantion.

Treichel has a B.S.B. in Accounting from the University of Minnesota and resides in Hollywood, Florida.

A refund of the amount paid, less an $90 administrative fee per registrant, will be given for all cancellations submitted via email to ten or more business days prior to the start of the session. No refunds will be granted if the cancellation is received after that time frame. Substitutes will be accepted any time prior to the start of the program at no additional cost. Simply email, listing the new participant and who they will be replacing.
