Individuals with disabilities continue to face unemployment rates more than twice that of their non-disabled peers. The employment rate of individuals in New York State with a disability was 32% in 2012, compared to 75.6% of individuals without disabilities. (Cornell University: www.disabilitystatistics.org)
The New York Credit Union Association is proud to participate in the New York Trade Association Partnership Talent Employment Program (NY TAP), which connects credit unions with qualified, pre-screened job-seekers with disabilities. The result? Credit unions can benefit from new talent while empowering one of the most under-employed segments of our population.
Pre-screened, qualified job candidates
All candidates possess minimum qualifications, but often far surpass the required educational and skill requirements to fill positions from entry level to executive management. In addition, all candidates complete Employee Ready Training, an online training program specifically designed for NY TAP and employment within the credit union movement.

NY TAP is funded by a grant through the Kessler Foundation. Partners include: the National Disabilities Institute, the New York State Office of Adult Career and Continuing Education Services Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR), and the National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions.
